The final move by Lilian Ng’ang’a to reorganize her love life with a lowly man in terms of social status makes her an equal case study with Ruth Akinyi, estranged wife to Raphael Tuju who eloped with Tony Ogunda, a man who was kicked out of GSU over gross misconduct in 2010.
With all the braggadocio and disrespect Akinyi threw on the way of Tuju by openly involving herself in a philanderers affair at the height of their highly-publicized divorce, life has really humbled Akinyi to the shock of many who knew her while she was still swimming in opulence, living in exclusive neighborhoods, foreign vacays and all the soft things that life had to offer courtesy of her well-heeled husband, Tuju.
As we speak, Akinyi who left Tuju with all the drama and shame now sells food in a humble eatery along Mombasa road and solely depends on the few coins collected from hungry and struggling office workers along Mombasa Road to fend for herself and sustain the business. A typical meaning of from Grace to grass.
Tuju and Akinyi during their sweet old days
According to sources, Akinyi has even gone overboard to devise a plan to beat the stiff competition in the area. She has positioned an employee at her eatery’s entrance to woo potential clients.
Her fresh and delicious meals target lower and middle-class workers hence setting a favorable price of between shillings 250 and 500. A pricing model that has made her a darling to many because the food is also generously served.
As fate would have it, Tuju also coincidentally established the posh Dari restaurant in Karen, serving high-end clientele who are willing to part with thousands of shillings for meals unlike Akinyi who depends on meagre 500 bob ordered less.
With such a sad ending for Akinyi, many people who knew her former lifestyle are still awestruck on why she left a polished man like Tuju only to come out and be beaten by life properly.
Tuju was established in all spheres. An alumnus of the prestigious University of Leicester,United Kingdom, a news anchor, a member of parliament, a cabinet minister and all other juicy achievements.
With Akinyi’s fate already sealed, all eyes have now shifted to Lilian Ng’ang’a who has apparently pulled a similar move, leaving a very powerful man for some backstreet degenerate.
While still serving as first lady, Machakos county, Lillian was a sculptured beauty with killer legs who accumulated so much power that even senior county employees trembled when they crossed paths.
She was rolling in fuel guzzlers, her face hidden behind expensive designer goggles and wigs with a band of armed men in tow to ensure her safety often leaving locals awestruck.
But now all those privileges she was enjoying with the trappings of power are no more.
Only time will tell whether Lilian Ng’ang’a will also walk in the same path after divorce just like Akinyi, Tuju’s ex-wife of 27 years.
