Tension has escalated in the Likoni Ferry crossing, Mombasa county after anti-terrorism police swiftly acted on intelligence, in the process intercepting a probox car that was just about to board the awaiting ferry with illegal ammunition.
In the incident that happened a few minutes past 1030 am, a unit of police commandos in full combat gear arrived and immediately profiled a Toyota white Probox that was in que ready to board the Ferry.
Aboard the profiled probox car, were two unidentified men, and upon conducting a swift search, 2 AK47 riffles were found, full ammunition and phones were also found.
The two were apprehended on the spot pending thorough investigations on their identities and mission they were going to execute.
According to preliminary reports, the 2 are suspected to be terrorists who have been transporting weapons and ammunitions to various criminal gangs in Mombasa and Kisauni area.
